What You Need to Know When Camping With Dogs

Dogs are man’s best friend for good reason, and will love the opportunity to go camping with you if given the chance. Taking your dog with you on a family camping trip can be fun as long as you are prepared. Take your pooch with you on a hike or take them down to the lake and let them play in the lake. Or, after a long day your dog will gladly provide you with companionship while you relax and take in the fresh air and great view of the stars.

So, what can you do to ensure that you and your dog are able to have a successful camping trip with no incidents or problems? Find out what you can do to make your dog’s camping experience something they will look forward to every year.

  • Treat for Fleas & Ticks Ahead of Time – Fleas and ticks are pesky little creature that would like nothing more than to make a home deep in the fur of your dog feeing of their blood; don’t let this happen to your dog. If you plan to take your dog with you camping then it is wise to go in to your local vet and have them administer flea and tick medication to you so that you can be sure that your furry friend is thoroughly protected before going into the woods.

  • Double Check Your Pets ID Tag – If you are going to be taking your dog with you camping then you have to plan for the unexpected and that is your dog getting loose somehow. If your dog is in an unfamiliar place, they may have a hard time finding their way back. That is why it is always a good idea to add a Pet ID tag with your current cell phone number and address on it.
